A Case of Fibro-Cartilaginous Tumour of the Left Upper Jaw-Bone; Excision & Cure

About 6 months ago he experienced a pain in the gum?, followed soon afterwards by a swelling in the left upper jawbone, close to the molar teeth. The swelling gradually enlarged, and at the time of admission extended from the posterior part of the left upper maxillary bone forwards and inwards across the median line, towards the right side, as far as the right canine tooth and upwards to the malar bone. The tumour was hatd, and in some parts had an elastic feel. The teeth of the left side were displaced and irregular, and some of them had fallen out, and those of the right side were pushed forward, but not irregular. There was" some bulging of the left cheek and of the alveolar process ; no protrusion of the eye. There were some openings on the lower and posterior part of the tumour which discharged a purulent fluid. He could open the mouth only to the extent of half an inch, and he had difficulty in taking food. Enjoyed tolerably fair health. Had a good appetite and regular bowels. Ou the morning of the 13th August the tumour was removed
